Tim Seltzer

Mr. Seltzer currently works with SEAF, an emerging market private equity firm based in Washington DC, where he is a Managing Director for the SEAF Blue Waters Growth Fund, an investment fund focused on Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Mr. Seltzer recently spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia) where he taught business classes at a university and worked with local businesses. Prior to the Peace Corps, Mr. Seltzer spent five years as an investment banker, culminating in a Director level position with Investec, an international investment bank. As an investment banker, he worked primarily with middle market, technology-related clients (with a particular focus on enterprise software companies), and specialized in private placements, mergers and acquisition advisory services, and strategic advisory services. Mr. Seltzer spearheaded Investec’s domestic (US) enterprise software practice, building and running a highly successful and profitable investment banking platform. Overall, he was responsible for originating, analyzing, structuring, marketing and closing over 30 capital markets and financial advisory transactions, including extensive experience structuring and managing direct equity-related investments into private portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Investec, Mr. Seltzer spent four years as a senior auditor/consultant with Arthur Andersen, an international accounting and consulting firm. In this capacity Mr. Seltzer participated in numerous client engagements, consulting projects, quarterly financial reviews and annual financial statement audits, corporate restructurings, and M&A and financing transactions.

Mr. Seltzer is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and has fluent Russian language skills (speaking, reading and writing). His interests and expertise include the economic-social-political dynamics shaping the world, particularly in emerging markets. Mr.Seltzer completed course work in international business at The University College, Cork, Ireland, and graduated cum laude from St. Joseph’s University with an undergraduate degree in Accounting, and summa cum laude from St. Joseph’s with a Master’s degree in International Marketing, where he was a graduate assistant for the Dean of the Business School and was awarded a medal of distinction as the top graduate in his class.
